Official Photographer for Royal Ascot

Astrid Harrisson is an artist who creates stylized digital photographs inspired by her passion for horses. Her dynamic prints fuse traditional methods with graphic illustration techniques as a means to convey the power, strength and majesty of the horse. The compassion Astrid holds for her subjects is evident in every image, her extraordinary talent for seeing the unusual is the hallmark of her work. These attributes combine with the high level of skill she has achieved in her chosen genre to ensure that each piece of work is entirely unique and unmistakably Astrid Harrisson.

Following a successful career in the world of art and design in London, Astrid’s days are now filled travelling to all corners of the earth documenting horses within their individual, cultural niches, bringing enormous empathy for these cultures to her work. This includes the vast expanses of Argentina, a land of horses, and where Astrid first specialised in equestrian work many years ago.

Having been liberated at a young age to galavant through the woods on horseback with friends, Astrid’s carefree spirit thrives around horses. To combine a love of the arts, culture and travel with this ceaseless passion for the horse is more than just a dream. Astrid shares her sensitive portrayals in her books and through various group and solo exhibitions across Europe, the Middle East and America, in between taking time out in the beautiful rolling hills of Wiltshire with her husband, artist Stephen Rew, and blue whippet Remington.

Astrid is a member of the Chelsea Arts Club, London and an Associate member of the British Institute of Professional Photographers.

Archival Pigment Prints

All editions are framed unless stated otherwise. Sizes refer to paper size with images being slightly smaller for paper handling.

Photogravure Etchings

All photogravure etchings are hand-printed using the traditional Intaglio process. The papers used are top quality archival papers and the method of combining inks, image and papers together produces a result so totally different from normal photographic prints. Each gravure etching is produced as an edition no larger than 25, at which point the plate will be destroyed.

The series has the kind support of Her Highness Shaikha Hissa bint Sultan bin Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who graciously lends her Patronage to the collection. Further background information can be read here.
