American Contemporary

William Witenberg’s recent work blends ancient watercolor techniques with contemporary digital manipulation to create mixed media pieces that challenge and broaden the definitions of what we see.

Deeply concerned with authenticity and inspired by the impart of contemporary technology on the viewer of high definition devices, 3D movies, computer screens and cellphones, Witenberg provides fresh insight into the interplay of light and space, color and form and the visceral connection between viewer and art. He incorporates archetypical iconography to evoke embedded memories and heighten the viewer’s emotional response.
