American Contemporary

Born in Oakland California, 1968, Matt Rogers lives and paints in Saint Helena, California.  A graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute, he works in various media including painting, drawing, sculpture and printmaking.

In Rogers’ current series, “Dark Horse”, his unique perspective of the intense kinetic energy and agility displayed by riders and their horses on the polo field, is the result of several years of observation, drawing and painting.  Rogers translates these moments of intense action onto the canvas with perceptible feeling.
