Wendy Walworth attended  Wells College and graduated with a degree in Art History from Briarcliff College. She continued her art training at the Arts Students League, the National Academy of Design, the New York Academy of Art and the School of Visual Arts.

She has been influenced most strongly by the New York realist painters’ school of the 19th and 20th century as well as the European painters of those times. She has studied extensively with many painters including Daniel Greene, Aron Schickler, David Leffel, and Burton Silverman.

Wendy J Walworth is a portrait artist in the most classic sense. She is committed to representing not only the likeness, but also the characteristic uniqueness of her subjects. Wendy paints in a wide range of canvas sizes and makes extensive use of multiple sittings, to engage her sitter in a personal exchange that drives her brushwork in a broad, vigorous manner. She uses light and dark to dramatize her paintings, creating truly sculptural effects. Her work is direct and powerful allowing her to capture not only the hidden complexities of her subjects, but also the vividness of a physical presence with a memorable impact.

Wendy has painted many famous people in the arts, among them Geoffrey Beene, Christopher Plummer, Gordon Parks and Cliff Robertson to name a few. She paints all age groups as well as corporate portraits and equestrian commissions.

Wendy grew up in Connecticut and has been living New York City for the past 25 years.
