Smith, Suzy F.
American Contemporary
Suzy F. Smith is a Kentucky Bluegrass horse farm girl now married to a cattleman and owner of sporting dogs whose painterly style of art work and studies reflect her background and daily life.
As a young child, her parents and teachers found drawing lessons and pastel sessions for her while exposing her to artists such as Degas, Rosa Bonheur, Edwin Landseer, Remington, and John Singer Sargent. In high school, Suzy enrolled in drafting classes. At the University of Kentucky, she took basic drawing. She has sought out classically trained and talented professional artists who give instruction such as Carolyn Anderson at the Wilcox Gallery in Jackson Hole, Larry Wheeler, Booth Malone, Valerie Hinz and others.
Suzy has an affinity and skill for charcoal, pastel and oil which she interlaces with an innate ability to produce work that expresses sensitivity and swing. She is known for her drawings and paintings of animals particularly dogs, hounds, cattle, horses, their jockeys and riders and for her portraits.
