British Contemporary

Born in Cornwall, England in 1962, Sarah first picked up a paintbrush in the mid-nineties, and remarkably, for an artist with no formal training, developed a loyal following almost immediately amongst the British Fieldsports and Equestrian fraternity, painting initially in watercolour. By 2004, her talent had been recognised internationally with a major commission taking her all the way to Zimbabwe to paint two dogs. Now working more often in oils but occasionally also in graphite, Sarah’s work is held in private collections across three continents.

An associate member of the Society of Equestrian Artists (ASEA), Sarah exhibits regularly in London and Newmarket, centre of the UK horse racing world, as well as in her own small gallery in Cheshire and at gamefairs and shows from Scotland to Wales. She has also developed a secondary career as a photographer and spends much of her time in summer behind the lens at The Cheshire Polo Club, as well as following two local hunts and a Beagle pack in winter.

Sarah maintains that there is no mystery to her artistry. “I just paint what I love and work hard at it. Fox-hunting, fishing, shooting and polo are amongst my passions in life.  If I can capture the essence of an animal’s character, the dynamism of a horse in movement, or simply the bite in the air on a cold winter’s morning, then I’m delighted to be able to share a little of what moves me.”
