American Contemporary

A native New Yorker, Joanne Sullam has had a lifelong passion and appreciation for animals and nature. JoAnne has combined this love of nature with her other passion, Art, studying at The New York School of Visual Arts while at the same time, learning about animal behavior and husbandry, which lead her to obtain a wildlife rehabilitators license, from which she gained a deeper understanding of animal anatomy and behavior. All of which brought her craft to a higher level.

Joanne has donated artwork and her time to many conservation organizations. Joanne has also worked as an animal handler, assisting Jim Fowler of Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom, The Today Show, Montel Williams, Regis and the Conan O’Brien show.

She has worked for many years with Martha Stewart and alongside animal expert and longtime friend Marc Morrone on his show “pet keeping” with Marc Morrone. Also working with personalities like Richard Gere, Bobby Kennedy Jr. and concert pianist/animal activist, Helene Grimaud.

JoAnne Sullam’s paintings & Sculptures have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and cultural centers around the country.

Ms. Sullam is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including Special Congressional Recognition for Work in the Arts by former Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, a Commendation in the Arts and a Certificate of Achievement in the Arts from George Pataki, she also received an Award of Excellence from the Visual Art Alliance of Long Island, NY. She has received several grants for her work, combining arts with conservation.

Her Artwork has been featured in many publications and television shows; including:
The New York Times
“The Best of Sporting Art” in Polo Players magazine.
The Horse in Art magazine
The Chronicle of the Horse (on the cover).

She is the author of:
(Little Puppy and the “Mystery of the Doody in the Hallway”)
A funny novelty book and the result of a lifetime of working with animals.

JoAnne resides in New York.
