American Contemporary

For the last 32 years, I have worked as a commercial artist. in 1980, I graduated with a BS from Cal Poly in Graphic Communications, a degree focused on the printing industry. Since then I have worked almost exclusively in the toy business doing packaging, character development, catalogs, product development, illustration and photo direction. I have been published in Print Magazine and have won numerous international and national awards.

In 2001, I began doing fine art work. This was mostly in response to the increasingly digital nature of my work. Simply put, I still wanted the experience of actually working with the paints. I have been in several galleries and gained my signature status with the West Coast Pastel Society. Works have been accepted to international and national juried shows and have won numerous awards. I have been represented in several galleries all along the west coast.

In 2006, I returned to school to earn my MFA in Fine Art, Figurative Painting at Academy of Art University. Due to the rigors of the program, I ended all gallery representation at that time. In 2011, I graduated from Academy of Art University with a Masters Degree in Fine Art focusing on Figurative Painting. Continuing my relationship with Academy of Art, I began teaching there upon graduation teaching Color Foundations, a color theory course for animation, illustration, graphic design, advertising, game design, interior design and industrial design students. I have also taught Animal Anatomy at the University.

During my time as a student, I rediscovered my interest in sporting art. Now, my paintings have become dedicated to the art of the horse and hound. The new works were the subject of a one man show in San Francisco. The work was well received with most pieces sold. Opening night accounted for most of the sales.

All my life I have been involved with horses. Right now, I own two horses, both field hunters. Living on the American River, I seem to spend every summer whitewater rafting, winters devoted to foxhunting. Currently, I live in a teeny Gold Country town, with my husband, two horses and a small pack of dogs.
