Eldridge, Alexandra
American Contemporary
“My paintings emerge from a place where contradictions are allowed, paradox reigns and reason is abandoned. My search is for the inherent radiance in all things…the extraordinary in the ordinary. As the process of painting parallels the movement of the psyche, it helps me to understand the world as a deeper reality. The rich soul experiences of my life become tangible. Each painting is a small acknowledgment of the inner life that can perhaps reveal its own share of soul, and that share of soul many connect to someone else’s share of soul. Then perhaps beauty may be granted.” AE

She has had over 40 solo shows and has participated in many group shows throughout the U.S. and abroad: Paris, London, Belgrade, New York, California, Santa Fe. Alexandra has been comissioned to paint murals int he Place des Vosges, Paris, and her work has been used on the cover of 8 books of poetry.
Traveling, as an important part of her inspiration, has taken her to Artists Residencies on the Island of Elba, Italy and the Valparaiso Foundation in Almeria, Spain. Art News, Art on Paper, New American Painting, and One Hundred Painters of the Southwest are just a few of the publications Alexandra has been featured in.
Alexandra Eldridge is collected by the likes of William Hurt, Steve Buscemi and Edie Falco besides many other prestigious collections.
“While Alexandra Eldridge’s work is full of wit and whimsy, intellectual flights and visual intrigue, this literate sophistication is tempered by an equal sense of innocence in the presence of the mystery. Perhaps it is this ability to encompass the known and the unknowable, the finite body and the eternity of the soul that makes the integrity of this work so marvelously appealing. ” Jon Carver
