STISSING HOUSE

Jeremy Rugge-Price, Patricia Powers and
John Beerman at the Stissing House

As part of our traveling exhibitions, the Chisholm Gallery has installed the work of three artists who celebrate the sportsman, the horse, and the beauty of the valley where we live. This show can be seen at the Stissing House restaurant in Pine Plains, New York.

Jeremy Rugge-Price resides at Oak Hill in the Hudson Valley, near Olana, the home of the famous American painter, Frederick Church. Yet much of his time is spent on the coastal areas of New England and Maine, where he finds the inspiration for many of his favorite subjects.

Patricia Powers’ master equine paintings have for more than 20 years celebrated the horse, conveying its conflicting nature – the power and beauty combined with a fragile vulnerability. Her neo-surrealist and painterly realist works can be seen upstairs.

John Beerman is a master of painting the American Countryside. As part of the Sojourners of Dutchess County show, Beerman surveyed the hills and dales of Millbrook, Amenia and the surrounding hamlets. He captured the beauty of New York’s Dutchess County with his extraordinary talent and craft. The result is an emotion-filled tribute to these beautiful vistas that is sheer poety Many of the resulting works are on display on the ground floor.
