Werner Rentsch is best known for his paintings of horses.

His work depicting racing, polo, foxhunting, and show jumping has appeared in one- man shows in New York City, Saratoga, the Headley-Whitney Museum in Lexington, KY, the Thoroughbred Hall of Fame in Aiken, SC, Aqueduct Raceway, in NY and Meadowlands Racetrack in NJ.

His work has also appeared in group shows at the International Museum of the Horse at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, the Appleton Museum of Art, Ocala, FL, the Canton Museum of Art, Canton, OH, the Marietta/Cob Museum of Art, Atlanta,GA and The Wildlife Experience, Denver, CO.

He studied painting at School of Visual Art, Pratt Institute and the Art Students League in New York City.

Rentsch is a full member of the American Academy of Equine Art and served as President from 1994 to 2007.
