The Chisholm Gallery in Palm Beach has Dreadys, and they’re in the middle of polo and horse country, so horses! And then I just had a commission for a client in Texas, so I drew cowboys, not football Cowboys but horse cowboys. And Sheryl Sick, a professional female polo player from Seattle, asked me to do a Dready of her horse, Rosebud, and so all these things led to more horses.

Vanessa Somers Vreeland exhibition at Galerie Re, which was hosted by her family and friends as a tribute.
Beyond the glittering beauty of the mosaic artwork itself what struck me was the verve with which this lady seemed to have lived her life – which we discovered during speeches by her family and friends. She was it seems a fearless and beautiful lady who ran away from home at 17 to go to Paris, struck a modelling deal (some of her portraits are showing at the exhibition), married a multi-millionaire and travelled the world.

This solo exhibition of John Hersey Jr. will feature large paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, etchings and monotypes spanning his life long career as an artist.
Having lived in Millbrook for the last 37 years of his life, many of the paintings, prints and photos on display were created in Millbrook during the 80s 90s and 2000s. John was educated at Yale University and had a studio and gallery in the heart of Soho at 476 Broome Street in the 70s and 80s and was friends with people such as Lou Reed, Gerard Malanga, John Chamberlin, Andy Warhol, Peter Bradley, David Koloane, Samson Mnisi and many other artists and culturally influential peers.
John Hersey Jr. passed away on May 30th, 2018.
Hersey Haiku house (site of exhibition) | Hersey Haiku House was envisioned, designed and built by John Hersey Jr. To see John’s art within the house that he built is a unique opportunity that may never happen again.

Donna Long – artist, socialite, horsewoman, world traveler, style icon, daughter of silent film star Ann Rork Light, mother of Wendy Fritz, proprietor of Fritz Gallery West Palm Beach; Diantha Woods, equestrian trainer; Douglas Rudolph Woods, ship captain; and stepdaughter to J. Paul Getty.
On the scene, Donna Long shows that life and painting continue after 80! Just look at Gloria Vanderbilt, Edwina Sandys (granddaughter of Winston Churchill) and Susan Phipps Cochran, painting each day and dressing for evenings out on the town.
